Prison Chronology of Kurdish Movements
The prison history of the Kurdish movement goes back to the foundation of the Republic. Even though it is not exactly known how many people were sent behind bars due to the Kurdish question, it can be said that the figure is over 300,000. A large portion of this figure belongs to the post-1980 period. In general, it can be seen that the mass arrests take place during the periods in which violence and tension caused through the Kurdish question climbs. Our file, which examines the prison experience of the Kurdish movements, consists of three chapters. The first chapter includes the data of the period between 1925-2010 and its analysis. The second chapter examines the date as to KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) operations, which started in 2009 and still continue. The final chapter involves the chronology of the political parties preceding the Kurdish question from 1990 to date (from the HEP to HDP), and prison experiences of the figures who served as chairs of these parties. Prepared by: Nuri Fırat / Yılmaz Yıldız - 03 May 2017, Wednesday
