Penalty Imposed on HDP’s Yıldırım for ‘Insulting President’
HDP Group Deputy Chair Yıldırım has been sentenced to 14 months in prison on charge of “insulting the president” and has been imposed a penalty over TCK 53/1 meaning “prohibition from political rights”.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Group Deputy Chair Ahmet Yıldırım has been sentenced to 14 months in prison on charge of “insulting the president”. A penalty of “prohibition from political rights” has also been imposed on him. Attorneys lodged an appeal.
Dihaber reported that the summary judgement of the lawsuit brought on charge of “insulting the president” was held at Muş 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance.
The court sentenced Yıldırım to 14 months in prison and ordered prohibition of political rights.
The lawsuit was brought against Yıldırım after the parliamentary immunities were lifted. (EA/TK)
