While 10-decare forestland has been razed in a forest fire in Burgazada Island of İstanbul, 60 houses in Marmara Island of Balıkesir have been evacuated. In Tavşanlı, Kütahya, an 80-hectare area has been affected by the fire.

In the trial regarding the news reports on National Intelligence Agency (MIT) trucks, the court has ruled that the file of Can Dündar shall be separated and adjourned the hearing of the case to May 15 so that Gül and Berberoğlu will make their last defenses.

Cumhuriyet Newspaper Representative to Ankara Gül has been acquitted of the trial in which he was being tried together with Can Dündar. Gül was charged with “obtaining and declaring state’s confidential documents”.

Supreme Court: Penalty Increase for Dündar, Acquittal for Gül
Supreme Court of Appeal has reversed the district court decision foreseeing a 5 years and 10 months prison sentence for Dündar and 5 years of prison sentence for Gül. Supreme Court has ruled that Dündar shall be sentenced to 15 to 20 years in prison while Gül shall be acquitted.
