The chairs of the main opposition CHP and its ally İYİ Party have held a press conference ahead of the election authority's meeting on the ruling AKP's appeal against the results in İstanbul, where it lost in the local elections to CHP according to the unofficial results.

An investigation has been launched against polling clerks in Kartal and Kadıköy for allegedly committing irregularities in counting and documenting votes cast in local elections. The clerks face the charges of “misconduct” and “falsifying election results.”

AKP has submitted a petition to İstanbul Provincial Election Council, requesting that elections be cancelled and re-elections be held in Büyükçekmece, İstanbul. The party has also demanded the cancellation of district Mayor Akgün’s certificate of election.

Ekrem İmamoğlu, Metropolitan Mayor of İstanbul according to unofficial election results, has commented on ‘re-election’ discussions: “The result doesn’t change after all these counts. This process has really exhausted İstanbul and is now harming it.”

A petition has been launched, calling Supreme Election Council (YSK) to be impartial and fair: "YSK has to be an institution that treats everyone equally and fairly, whose decisions do not contradict with each other and that has no double standards in practice.”

HDP's imprisoned former co-chair has said, "This is the success of the HDP, it would be wrong to view it as my success," on the March 31 local elections.

Upon the allegation that “the residential addresses of 11 thousand 186 people were moved to Büyükçekmece, İstanbul before the local elections,” police officers have launched an examination in the addresses in question in Büyükçekmece.

The ruling AKP previously appealed to the Supreme Election Council, requesting that all votes cast in 31 districts in İstanbul be counted again and elections be cancelled in Büyükçekmece. The council has rejected the AKP's request regarding 31 districts.

Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Metropolitan Mayor of İstanbul according to unofficial election results, has responded to President and AKP Chair Erdoğan, who said, “No one has the right to put on air as if he won the elections with a margin of 13-14 thousand votes.”

CHP İstanbul Provincial Chairpersonship has made a formal application at the Provincial Election Council for its mayoral candidate İmamoğlu to be mandated.
