The investigation into "espionage and blackmailing in the military" will be taken to court in April. Allegedly, a criminal organization within the military illegally obtained a huge amount of classified information to be sold to foreign governments, the indictment states.

Police Raid on "People's Daily" - two Journalists in Custody
The offices of the People's Daily newspaper, the Democratic Peoples Association and the home of members of the Democratic Peoples Federation in seven provinces and counties were raided by the police. 23 people were taken into custody, among them two journalists.

Homosexual Referee Sues Turkish Football Federation
Former referee Dinçdağ opened a trial against the Turkish Football Federation because he was kicked out of the referee staff when it turned out that Dinçdağ is homosexual. The federation claimed that "persons exempt from military service cannot be appointed as referees".

1,469 Bodies in 114 Mass Graves - More to Come
A research by the Turkish Medical Association revealed that the remains of 1,469 people were found in 114 mass graves so far, the real figure may exceed these numbers by far. The association is concerned about the obscuring of evidence during the excavations.

Court of Appeals Quashed 21-year Sentence of Journalist Kılıç
The Court of Appeals quashed the 21-year prison sentence of journalist Kılıç, former chief editor of the Kurdish Azadiya Welat newspaper. Journalist Kutal from the same daily was sentenced to 10 months in jail. DİHA reporter Çetin is facing up to 5 years behind bars.

The Court of Appeals Public Prosecution demanded to overturn the 166.5-year prison sentence received by journalists Kurşun, former executive of the Azadiya Welat newspaper. The Court of Appeals will announce its decision on 2 March.

Three Oda TV Journalists Arrested
Journalists Soner Yalçın, Barış Pehlivan and Barış Terkoğlu were arrested and detained in an Istanbul prison on 18 February. The employees of the Oda TV news portal are alleged of "membership of a terrorist organization. Their colleague Ayhan Bozkurt was released.

Four years after the murder of Turkish-Armenian journalist Dink, the Istanbul 10th Administrative Court handed down a TL 100,000 fine in compensation to the Ministry of the Interior on the grounds that the police failed to protect Dink.

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Mayor Baydemir has to pay TL 30,000 (€ 15,000) in compensation to Prime Minister Erdoğan on charges of "attacking his personal rights". Baydemir commented, "I only want him to respect us. I will pay the 30,000 lira".

"Hücreler" - 'Prison Cells' is the title of the book that brought writer Berktaş to jail. Berktaş now won her case at the ECHR and Turkey was sentenced to a fine of € 15,000 in compensation. The same amount has to be paid to publisher Çamyar.

Trabzon Prosecution Broadens Investigation
The Rize High Criminal Court insisted on the reversal of the decision given by the Trabzon Chief Prosecution regarding alleged negligence prior to the murder of journalist Dink. The Prosecution had decided to drop procedures. Now, the investigation will be broadened.
