Photography Foundation released a list of injured or detained journalists and photographers in the past 25 days, underscoring the challenges that photographers faced during Gezi Resistance.

Police authorities in Istanbul have launched an investigation on 35 social media profiles for the defamation of state authorities including PM Erdoğan through messages and photos, submitting a detailed report to Prosecutor’s Office.

Kadın Gazeteciler Takipte (Women Journalists in Pursuit) Group released a statement, condemning the police violence on media staff during Gezi Park protests and targeting of women journalist who report on the issue.

Mehmet Can Tayşan, an eye witness of Ethem Sarısülük shooting by police fire, has been detained. Şahin İmga, a prospective witness of Ethem Sarısülük case, has been arrested by a court.

A court ordered the arrest of 7 defendants who were detained and released during Gezi Park protests. Tourniquets and plasters were listed as “crime instruments” of a jailed protestor - who is a medical doctor. Other evidence included construction helmets.

Hakan Yaman, a shuttle driver who lost his left eye, suffered from burns and had broken bones in his chin, malar, forehead, nose after police torture on the street, filed a lawsuit and submitted surveillance camera recordings of the incident.

“If you are having an activity in a country, you have to cooperate with its law enforcement officials,” Minister Binali Yıldırım said, addressing inquiries on Twitter’s response to government officials on disclosing the information of users who were allegedly involved in Gezi Park Resistance.

Police allegedly pointed guns at civilians and were stopped during a raid in Ankara where 20 individuals were detained. In the southern province of Adana, 6 have been arrested for “participating protests through organizations broadcasting on internet”.

Kazım Bayraktar, attorney of Ethem Sarısülük, claimed that the court did not arrest the policeman suspected of Sarısülük’s murder as it disregarded “expert and autopsy reports as well as surveillance camera recordings” and only decided upon police testimony.

Elisa Couvert - a student from France who has been detained during Gezi Park protests for refuging into the building of Socialist Democracy Party due to tear gas and taken to Police Bureau for Foreigners in Istanbul’s Kumkapı district - has been deported last night.

PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan released a mesage through a Peace and Democracy Party, saying that he was supporting the transparancy in peace process - which he named it to be on its second stage.

According to a report released by Worker Health and Work Security Assembly, at least 114 workers were killed from work-related injuries in May with seasonal agriculture (27) and construction (27) sectors causing the most casualties.

EFJ, ETUC and NUJ condemned the police violence and pressures on reporters who are covering Gezi Resistance in Turkey. The NUJ has written to David Cameron urging him to contact Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and stress the need to respect the right of journalists to freedom of expression guaranteed by European and International law.

During the Gezi Resistance across Turkey, police violence left 4 protestors dead and 7,882 injured with 59 gravely injured. 71 demonstrators have been arrested for “public property damage”. Advocate Efkan Bolaç informed that no violent perpetrator police officers (except one) have yet to be arrested or prosecuted.

An Adana court released the defendant in the case of Ahmet Yıldız, a child worker who died on the job by a press machine.

Advocates Serkan Akbaş, Mizgin Irgat, Mehmet Ayata, Mensur Işık, Şakir Demir, Servet Demir and Mehmet Deniz Büyük were released pending a trial in Istanbul’s 2nd KCK trial.

IFEX, International Fredom of Expression Campaign Organization, supported Turkey’s recent “standing man” protest in its 18th general council and strategy conference.

“Prosecutors considered protestors’ protective helmets and goggles as weapons, issuing arrest warrants. We have yet to find out about 9 people who were declared as missing,” Istanbul Bar Association Chairperson Ümit Kocasakal said.
