"We are the families of the workers died in workplace murders in DavutPaşa, Ostim, Van Bayram Hotel, Bedaş, Esenyurt, Sultanbeyli, Marmaray, Bursa, Erzurum, Karadon and many ther places..."
The families who lost their relatives in work accidents will gather together on Sundays at Taksim to put an end to "workplace murders" and to ensure the punishment of the perpetrators.
62 workers died in January, 4 in February, 59 in March, 87 in April this year. 250 workers died in total in the first quarter of 2012.
Reminding 5-8 workers are murdered at workplaces every day, Sinem Emir read the press statement:
"The reason for the workplace murders is clear enough to us and to the authorities: The employers do not care about the life of workers because of their profit desire and there are no precautions taken to ensure worker security. The authorities do not fulfill their responsibilities although the legislation provisions are so obvious."
"There's an obvious incident and its perpetrators are already known and this situation grows our rebellion and anger. The institutions and individuals responsible for auditing do not do their duties in this country, why?"
Arzu Cesur, wife of Kadir Cesur who died in Davutpaşa Explosion 4,5 years ago, told "We made press statements for 30 months in order to be able to file the case. The trial has been lasting for 2 years, the perpetrators are known but we are still waiting"
The aunt of Dogan News Agency DHA Reporter Cem Emir who died at Bayram Hotel in Van where he was staying to report about Van earthquake spoke to members of press:
"Don't be afraid of writing all these. Cem was very brave."
"My brother was working as a subcontractor and he had a 20-day baby when he died. We want to ensure the penalty for the perpetrators. Our pain does not stop" told Temel Şen, the brother of a worker who electrocuted at TEDAŞ.
The families will gather together on Sundays at 13:00 in front of Galatasaray High School at Taksim. (NV)
