According to the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey, 17 rights defenders stood trial in 7 separate cases in 2020; seven rights defenders were sentenced to a total of 24 years, 3 months in prison.

Dr. Serdar Küni sentenced to 4 years, 2 months in prison, again
Sentenced to prison for “having performed medicine” in Turkey’s Kurdish-majority southeastern province of Şırnak during the period of curfews, Dr. Serdar Küni has been given the same prison sentence in retrial. An appeal will be lodged against the ruling.
