Nine people who were detained during staging a protest in support of Gülmen and Özakça in Kadıköy have been released.

On the 75th day of the hunger strike, Gülmen and Özakça are being kept in detention cell lying on the ground. Meanwhile police attacked supporters gathering in front of the Human Rights Monument, detained seven people and seized flowers.

Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça were detained in a police operation launched on their home on the 75th day of their hunger strike on the grounds that “the protest could evolve to a death fast and may trigger event like Gezi Resistance or Tekel Resistance”.

Police have again intervened in the protest area on the 71st day of Gülmen and Özakça’s hunger strike. The flowers have been removed, banners burned, five people detained.

On the 70th day of their hunger strike, academic Gülmen and teacher Özakça could not make it to the Human Rights Monument on Yüksel Street of Ankara where they have been staging a protest during their hunger strike since they did not feel well today.

Police have intervened in the people supporting the hunger strike in front of the Human Rights Monument in Turkey’s capital city of Ankara on the 70th day of the hunger strike.

Police have attacked the people who were on watch to act in solidarity with Gülmen and Özakça, who have been on hunger strike for 69 days.

4 CHP MPs have gone on hunger strike for 24 hours to act in solidarity with academic Gülmen and teacher Özakça, who have been on hunger strike for 64 days with the demand that they be reinstated to their jobs.

Prof. Dr. David Harvey has said “I express my solidarity with my friends and colleagues in Turkey who are on hunger strike” in the video he released for Gülmen and Özakça who have been on hunger strike for 63 days.

While Özakça says “We need to focus on growing the hunger strike”, Gülmen stated “It is very nice that everyone trying to do something”.

A group of Peace Academics have gone on hunger strike in support of Gülmen and Özakça, who demand that they be returned to their work and went on hunger strike.

Gülmen, Özakça and Karadağ, who declared to start a hunger strike after 120 days passed over their protest in Ankara, have been detained following making a statement to the press.
