Lawsuit into Explosion That Killed 13-Year-Old Ahmet to be Filed 12 Years Later
13-year-old Ahmet Polat lost his life in Erzurum in 2008 when the ammunition that he collected as scrap exploded. The suit for non-pecuniary damages filed into the incident will be held again after 12 years.

‘Right to Life of 41 Thousand 694 People Violated in 17 Years’
According to a report on right violations prepared by main opposition CHP MP Sezgin Tanrıkulu, the right to life of at least 6,432 women has been violated in 17 years and the right to life of at least 4,104 children has been violated in 8 years.

ECHR Convicts Turkey of Police Fire
The European Court of Human Rights issued a verdict on the case of Şamil Camekan, finding Turkey guilty of the lack of efficient and rapid investigation regarding right to life after a police shooting. Turkey was ordered to pay 6,000 euros as non-pecuniary damages.

The European Court of Human Rights found Turkey guilty for violating right to life, torture ban, and right to freedom and security in the 1994 Ormancık case on the disappearance of 13 village guards under gendarmerie detention, the killing on 1 villager, and the burning down of a village.

Ancient City to be Inundated Under Dam Reservoir
Ministers Veysel Eroğlu and Mehmet Şimşek met with protests during a visit they paid to Hasankeyf, an ancient city in the southeastern province of Batman dating back to at least 12,000 years ago and that is to be inundated under a dam reservoir, causing irreversible damage to history and nature.

Death of 815 Children could have been Prevented
According to a report of the Children Rights Centre, the reasons for the death of at least 815 children in Turkey in 2011 could have been prevented. Most violations of the right to life of children remained unpunished.
