According to the indictment of the trial related to the Union of Kurdish Communities prepared by Prosecutor Çimen, Prof Ersanlı is facing imprisonment of 22.5 years on charges of leadership of an illegal organization. Nobel Peace candidate Zarakolu is facing 15 years in jail.

Appeal and Protest against KCK Arrests
A bill of exception was handed to court regarding the arrest of 46 people, including academic Ersanlı and publisher Zarakolu, in the scope of the KCK operation. A group of academics protested the arrests in front of the courthouse.

Author Mehmet Güler was sentenced to imprisonment of one year and three months under charges of "propaganda for an illegal organization" based on three fictional characters of his book "More difficult decisions than death". Publisher Zarakolu was acquitted.
