Supreme Court of Appeals Requests Acquittal of All Defendants Except for Two

The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Supreme Court of Appeals has requested that Atalay, Erinç, Sabuncu and Çetinkaya be acquitted; the prison sentences of İper and Aydoğdu be upheld and Ahmet Şık be tried on different charges.

‘The One Who Threw a Punch is Free, Cartoonist is Behind Bars’

Six lawyers and journalists whose prison sentences were upheld in Cumhuriyet case have been imprisoned again. Speaking before entering prison, Musa Kart said, “The one who threw a punch is free, cartoonist and journalists are behind bars.”

After the verdict on Cumhuriyet case has been upheld, the attorneys of the newspaper have appealed to the Supreme Court of Appeals, requesting that the verdicts of conviction be reversed and the right of appeal be granted to sentences less than five years.
