The court of appeals has overturned the judicial fine of 7,100 lira given to daily BirGün Editorial Coordinator Varlı in a lawsuit filed by Minister Berat Albayrak over two news reports on Panama Papers. The court has ruled for the acquittal of the journalist.

Court of Appeals Insisted on Compensation Fine for Orhan Pamuk
The Court of Appeals insisted on a compensation fine for writer Pamuk after a local court had dropped procedures twice. Pamuk has to pay a fine of TL 6,000 in total because of a statement made to a Swiss newspaper in 2005.

Chief Prosecutor Cihaner Released
The 11th Chamber of the Court of Appeals decided to merge the cases against Erzincan Public Chief Prosecutor Cihaner at the Erzurum 2nd High Criminal Court and at the Court of Appeals respectively. The prosecutor of the Court of Appeals demanded the release of all detained defendants of both cases. The court accepted the request.
