Prosecutor Demands 10 Years in Jail for Kurdish Politician Tuğluk
The prosecutor of the Ankara 11th High Criminal Court demanded imprisonment of 10 years for Aysel Tuğluk, former official of the closed DTP. Among other charges, Tuğluk is tried because she referred to PKK leader Öcalan as "respectable". The case continues on 5 October.

Kurdish Politician Tuğluk Scot-Free in 2 Trials
Kurdish politician Tuğluk was acquitted by an Istanbul court of charges related to a news item published in 2004. Another case filed against her on the grounds of an article published in 2002 was closed by prescription.

Pro-Kurdish Politician Türk Attacked
Ahmet Türk, former co-chair of closed Democratic Society Party, was attacked after a court hearing in Samsun. Türk was taken to hospital and underwent surgery because his nose was broken.

Yet Another Trial for Pro-Kurdish Politicians Türk and Tuğluk
Banned politicians Türk and Tuğluk are now on trial regarding the hand-over of eight soldiers kept hostage by the PKK in 2007. The Ankara Chief Prosecution demands five years imprisonment each on account of a picture of PKK leader Öcalan at the place of the hand-over.

Former DTP Co-Chairs Face Heavy Prison Sentences
Former Democratic Society Party officials Türk and Tuğluk face imprisonment of 45 and 70 years respectively under charges of "spreading PKK propaganda". The former party members were imposed to a political ban after the closure of DTP.

Kurdish Politician Tuğluk Acquitted - Öcalan's Lawyers Sentenced
Former DTP MP Tuğluk was acquitted of charges of "spreading propaganda for an illegal organization". At the same time, PKK leader Öcalan's lawyers Dündar and Aydınkaya received a 10 months prison sentence, which was suspended on probation.

DTP Closure Made Official, Political Ban Effected
The decision of the closure of Democratic Society Party taken by the Constitutional Court in December has been published in the Official Gazette and thus been legally enforced. Hereupon, the political ban for 37 DTP members comes into effect and the MP status of the co-chairs officially ends.
