An armed attack has been launched against Hakan Denizli, the Grant Holder of Adana-based Egemen local newspaper. Being taken to hospital after the incident, Denizli’s state of health has been reportedly good.

Journalist Ergin Çevik Attacked in Antalya
Ergin Çevik, the Editor-in-Chief of Antalya-based Güney Haberci news website, was attacked by three people in Aksu, Antalya. Releasing a statement, the Progressive Journalists Association has stated, “Such attacks cannot frighten the journalists.”

Journalist Sues Policemen For Breaking His Finger on Duty
Journalist Vahap İş claimed that he was beaten by members of an anti-riot force when he recorded footage of the police beating a child. He stated that his records were erased and his finger got broken when his camera was seized. İş filed a criminal complaint.

Doğan News Agency reporter Şen was assaulted by a young man in the local teachers' house of Kınık (Izmir). Şen was apparently targeted by his attacker because of a news item about a raid on a pharmacy.

A plainclothes police officer allegedly provoked an assault on journalists Eskin and Kaplan when they were covering a demonstration in Istanbul. Journalist İş was attacked by a plainclothes police officer in the province of Mardin when he followed another protest action.

Journalist Attacked by Gaddafi's Body Guards and then Arrested
Journalist Tezel was attacked by the body guards of the son of Lybian leader Muammer Gaddafi when he tried to take his photograph. Subsequently, it was Tezel who was arrested by the police. The Turkish Journalists' Association urged the Chief of Police to take the necessary consequences.

Turkish Cameraman Assaulted at Work
Cameraman Ertuğrul Yılmaz form Kanal 48 was attacked when he took footage of rubble dropped in a forest in Marmaris on the Mediterranean coast. Yılmaz was taken to hospital with a broken nose and broken ribs. A complaint was filed with the attackers.

Journalist Attacked in Municipality Elections
Yeni Asır newspaper journalist Fatih Yapar filed a criminal complaint because he had been assaulted when he wanted to watch Metin Solak's election victory in the Çiğli Municipality. Izmir Journalists Association president Atilla Sertel condemned the attack and declared to follow the incident up.

Journalist Önal Assaulted for Taking Pictures of Accident
Journalist Yakup Önal was attacked when he took photos of a bus that had tipped over after an accident in the Tekirdağ district of Şarköy. The journalist is not able to work because of pain as a result from the assault. The prosecutor released the three suspects after he took their statements.
