After 18-year-old worker Mehmet Aydın has lost his life by falling down an elevator shaft at İstanbul Airport, around 300 workers have halted work. "We will not start working until the necessary safety measures are taken", the workers have announced.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Cahit Turhan has announced that the last flight will take off from İstanbul Atatürk Airport on April 6 and during the transfer to the new İstanbul Airport, no flights will be made at two airports for 12 hours.

Date of Transfer to 3rd İstanbul Airport Postponed Once Again
The date of transfer from İstanbul Atatürk Airport to İstanbul Airport, which was first announced as December 30-31, then as March 1-3, has been changed again. The transfer will take place on April 5-6 and Atatürk Airport will be closed as of April 7.

Minister of Transport: 25 of 55 Workers Died by 'Natural Causes' in 3rd Airport
According to Minister of Transport Cahit Turhan, deaths by natural causes in the construction of the 3rd Airport “were not caused by the workplace or the employer.” As for the unnatural deaths, the Minister has stated flaws of the killed workers as reason.
