"Children who threw stones were answered with stones" was the subtitle of news about a demonstration in Mersin. Once more, the media violated the rights of the child. Expressions violating the assumption of innocence were used contrary to the Press Law.

President Abdullah Gül accepted the state's responsibility for the murder of Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink. Gül said that Dink died because "necessary precautions" had not been taken prior to the murder.

The government defended assassinated Turkish-Armenian journalist Dink's conviction for "insulting Turkishness" with the comparison to a neo-Nazi case. "Since Dink had not asked for protection, he was not under threat", the government also claimed.

The PKK announced its decision for a period of "passive defence" from 13 August till 20 September. The constancy of the process is contingent on four conditions. The decision was influenced by the beginning of the moths of Ramadan amongst other factors.

The Basketball Federation has decided to use the term “women’s league.” Associate Professor Dr. Cubukcu from Istanbul University says, "The equivalent of man is woman, not lady.” Language experts advocate the word, “woman.” International sports organisations also use, “woman,” not “lady.”

N.Y. Asks for Justice in Rape Case But There is No Lawsuit
It has been revealed that no charges have been pressed against the 34 people, who are accused of raping 17-year-old N.Y. in Van. Among the 34 people, are the relatives of AKP Deputy Orhan. Justice Minister Ergin stated that an investigation was carried out about four of the suspects, but the file was closed due to lack of evidence.

Men Kill 23 Women in July
Men have killed at least 23 women in July. Six women have lost their lives suspiciously. Last month at least 20 women were injured, 18 women and children were raped, 27 people – 20 of whom were children – were victims of sexual abuse and exploitation.
