The Pembe Hayat LGBTT association has announced that police officers have forced transgender sex workers to get in police cars in the capital city of Ankara and left the women in remote, desolate places of the city.

Making a call to Turkey to put an end to prosecutions on charge of ‘insulting the president’, the Human Rights Watch has emphasized, “Decisions by prosecutors and courts to start or drop cases should not rest on the word of the president.”

It has been stated that two people from Urfa, who were doing their mandatory military service, have committed suicide in two days. While one of the soldiers has lost his life in his hometown in leave of absence, the other one committed suicide while on duty.

One academic has been sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison as per the Article no. 7/2 of the Anti-Terror Law. The prison sentence of the academic has been suspended.

Dr. Karl Renner Solidarity Prize, which is awarded each year by the Austrian Journalists Club, will be given to journalist Max Zirngast, who has been behind bars in Turkey for almost a month. Last year’s prize was shared by journalists Meşale Tolu and Deniz Yücel, who were also in prison in Turkey at the time.
