The Research Center of the Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK) has shared its own statistics on unemployment in Turkey, underlining that the broad unemployment rate in Turkey was 28.8 percent in November.

One more student has been arrested over Boğaziçi University protests against the appointed rector. Five students have also been detained for painting slogans to express their demand for the release of their friends.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) has announced the labor force statistics for November 2020. According to the TurkStat, the number of unemployed people decreased by 303 thousand in November, which marked a 0.4 point decrease.

In the trial of public officials over the assassination of journalist Hrant Dink, both the defendants and Dink family’s attorneys made their statements. The court board is expected to hand down its ruling at the next hearing on March 5.

Human Rights School has prepared a new report regarding the pressure on academics in Turkey. The report has shown that academic staff has become an instrument of pressure in itself and academics censor their own course materials.

Speaking about the Soma case, Manisa Bar Association Chair Arslan says that even though the last arrested defendants were released from prison on February 5, the news has been recently heard “because it is impossible to see it in the court file.”

Making a statement about the court verdict on Historical Bartın Occupational High School, the Ankara Branch of the Chamber of Architects says, “Justice delayed is justice denied. We will struggle to ensure that the building will be constructed again.”
