The European Court of Human rights convicted the Turkish government for failing to carry out an effective investigation in the case of transgender woman Halat who was harassed by a police officer. According to data compiled by bianet, 26 women in Turkey were killed by men in July 2011. 21 women were raped, nine were harassed, 32 women were injured. The highest number of incidents involving violence against women occurred in Adana.
