As the Turkish government launched a debate on social media networks’ fiscal responsibilities in Turkey, Twitter officials decline to comply to the government’s demand to open an office in Turkey.
Following the lifting of Twitter ban in Turkey with a constitutional court ruling, top company officials Colin Crowell (Head of Global Public Policy), Sinead McSweeney (Twitter's Public Policy person in Europe) and Anthony Nieto (Associate Manager, Legal Policy at Twitter) have arrived in Turkey to hold two-day long talks with officials from Turkey’s Communications Ministry.
While Twitter officials said they weren’t planning to open an office in a foreseeable future, they could only do in case they market grew in the country. The talks are underway. (EA/BM)
