According to cnnturk.com, among those who are detained, the authorities transferred retired general Hurşit Tolon, a former commander of the gendarmerie forces and the present head of the Atatürkist Thought Association (ADD) retired general Şener Eruygur, daily Cumhuriyet’s Ankara representative Mustafa Balbay, Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) Chairman Sinan Aygün, writer Erol Mütercimler, Prof. Dr. Ercüment Ovalı, Birol Başaran, Kemal Aydın, retired colonel Hasan Atilla Uğur and İbrahim Özcan to the court.
One person was arrested
The police took heavy security measures around the courthouse. Sharpshooters are placed on the roofs of the buildings around the courthouse.
Yesterday, the authorities released the chief editor of the newspaper “Halka ve Olaylara Tercüman” Ufuk Büyükçelebi, journalist Murat Ayar, contractor Siyami Yalçın and Hamza Demir, and arrested Barbaros Hayrettin Altıntaş, all of whom were in custody in connection with the investigation.
