Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu visited the southwestern Denizli province yesterday (August 8) evening after a 6.0 magnitude earthquake.
The minister visited a house damaged by the quake and later went to the crisis center in Bozkurt district governorship. Speaking to reporters afterward, Soylu said that the earthquake was felt in the provinces of Isparta, Manisa and Burdur as well.
Four-hundred tents have been requested so far and 80 tents have been set up, the minister said, adding that the Ministry of Environment and Urbanism has found more than 390 damaged buildings and 59 severely damaged buildings in the districts of Bozkurt and Çardak.
"After the earthquake, 83 aftershocks occurred. These are on the levels of 3 or 4. Eighty-one of citizens of ours applied to hospitals for being injured, most of them went to hospitals because of panic. Seventy-eight of them have been discharged by now. Three citizens of ours at hospitals," the minister remarked.
When asked whether the Çardak Airport has been damaged, Soylu said, "There is a slight crack on the tower, not serious damage."
