Two workers were injured in an explosion that occurred last night (June 28) at a fertilizer production facility in Mazıdağı, Mardin, in southeastern Turkey.
One of the workers is in serious condition, the Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reported.
The incident took place in the acid production section during the cutting of rubber with a cutting tool. The gas tank exploded after the cutting disc touched it, according to the report.
The injured workers were taken to the Mazıdağı State Hospital. After the first response there, they were transferred to the Mardin Training and Research Hospital.
The Eti Copper Metal Recovery and Integrated Fertilizer Facilities is owned by the Cengiz Holding, a business group close to the government. (FT/HA/VK)
