Ahmet Bilge has been behind bars for 26 years. He is currently held in Elbistan Type E Closed Prison in Turkey's southeastern province of Maraş.
It is not the first time that Bilge sent his drawings to bianet. This time, he tells us that there were, in fact, other drawings that he tried to send us by post, but they were not approved by the censorship committee:
"Unfortunately, I cannot send you my drawings that were found 'objectionable'. I previously mentioned that it was more difficult to make drawings behind bars than outside, but I did not talk about the existence of a censorship committee back then. When what we write and draw is found objectionable, we are prevented from sending them. But, the world of drawings is rich, one can always find a way to express oneself."
His drawings "that could escape the prison and reach us" are as follows:
"...I will make sure that we have our wedding ceremony in the most beautiful wedding hall! When we decide to have a divorce after some time, I will hire the best divorce lawyers. I will pay you the highest alimony, my love!"
"Then, let this be our song of separation, my love!"
"I am dismissing your class president due to his misbehavior and appointing your friend Hikmetullah as a trustee in his place."
"They will install filters so that the air will not be polluted."
"Oh, really! I hope we won't get harmed by clean air? You know, we are not used it."
