Leftist Platform consisting of various political parties and non-governmental organizations organized a demonstration in Beyoğlu Tünel, demanding that the authorities find the real perpetrators of the Güngören explosions.
The platform emphasized that the media was misleading the public by pointing to the PKK as the perpetrators behind these explosions.
There were about a thousand demonstrators. The demonstrators chanted slogans such as “Down with MGK, MİT, JİTEM, Counter Guerilla”, “Long live the brotherhood of peoples”, “Long live revolution and socialism”.
Talking for the group, Figen Yüksekdağ said, “These explosions indicate that the government does not take action against the counter-guerilla. This shows that those who arrested 5-10 nationalist fascist with the Ergenekon indictment are still not touching the counter-guerilla rule. The counter-guerilla is still active.”
“Ergenekon Indictment is a shield to protect the counter-guerilla”
Yüksekdoğan added, “Those who stopped the movement against the government with the Ergenekon operation could not stop the explosions in Güngören, because their intention is not really to protect people against massacres and provocations, but to protect their own interest mechanisms.” She concluded by emphasizing that the road to calling the real perpetrators to account for the Güngören massacre goes through settling scores with the state mentality that creates the counter-guerilla rule.
Those platform members which joined the demonstration were: the Democratic Turkey Party (DTP), the Independent Revolutionary Class Platform (BDSP), People’s Culture Centers (HKM), the Freedom and Solidarity Party (ÖDP), the Labor Party (EMEP), Workers Movement Party (EHP), the Socialist Solidarity Platform (SODAP), the Socialist Democracy Party (SDP), the Socialist Party Initiative (SPG), Focus People Front and the Socialist Freedom Platform (TÖP), Confederation of Revolutionary Labor Unions (DİSK), Revolutionary 78ers, The 78ers Initiative, Cinema Laborers Union of Turkey (Sine-Sen) (BÇ/EZÖ).
