One soldier was killed and two others were injured in the clashes between soldiers and members of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Dersim. One soldier and a child were killed in another clash between gendarmerie and members of PKK in Trabzon on Friday (August 11).
According to Doğan News Agency (DHA), PKK opening fire at around 11 p.m. on Friday night injured three soldiers. One of the soldiers lost his life in Elazığ Fırat University where he was brought to for treatment.
Following the clash, the area towards which the PKK members fled has been hit by cannons. A comprehensive air operation has allegedly been launched in the region.
One soldier and a child were also killed in another clash in Trabzon.
An operation was launched in Maçka district of Trabzon province on August 9 against PKK members. Clashes occurred at around 3 p.m. on August 11 between the gendarmerie and members of PKK.
Two gendarmerie staff and one child who were injured in the clashes were brought to hospital. Gendarmerie officer Ferhat Gedik and 15-year-old Eren Bülbül lost their lives in KTÜ Faculty of Medicine Farabi Hospital.
Trabzon Governorate making a statement on the death of Eren Bülbül on Saturday (August 11) noted that Bülbül was in the firing line while he wanted to help the soldiers and show them the locations of PKK members.
Bülbül's family have criticized that Bülbül had been taken to the clashes area without taking any measures. (EA/DG)
