The İstanbul 11th Administrative Court has cancelled the Üsküdar Municipality’s tender for a rehabilitation project to be launched on the Validebağ Grove.

The Üsküdar Municipality in İstanbul previously appealed against the decision of stay of execution given for the development plan of the Validebağ Grove. The İstanbul Regional Administrative Court has rejected this appeal.

The Municipality of Üsküdar entered the Validebağ Grove with excavators and lorries at 5.30 in the morning. Speaking to bianet, Arif Belgin from the Validebağ Volunteers says that the police hinder their resistance and calls on everyone for support.

Objection to construction in İstanbul’s Validebağ Grove, citizens have lied down on the ground in front of excavators to prevent the construction of a road inside a grade 1 natural site area without the approval of the conservation board.
