"Lost" in Custody - Time-Barred in 9 Days
An application to obtain information about Hüseyin Toraman who "got lost" in police custody 20 years ago brought the prosecution to launch a preliminary investigation into the whereabouts of Toraman. The file will become time-barred on 27 October.

Bones of the Disappeared Get Lost again after Excavation
At a meeting of the Association for Solidarity and Support of Relatives of Disappeared People, Tosun demanded to disclose classified state documents to learn who his buried where. Bektaş urged for reasonable accuracy and care during and after the excavations.

Saturday Mothers Demand Political Determination
The Saturday mothers announced their demands delivered to PM Erdoğan at their weekly protest action on Saturday. They requested independent members to be appointed to the sub-commission on unsolved disappearances and called for signing the related UN convention.

522 Unsolved Murders in 5 Years
Research of the Human Rights Association in Eastern and South-Eastern Turkey revealed 375 cases of unsolved murders from 2006 till the present. According to data compiled by the Turkish Human Rights Foundation, a total of 522 unsolved murders were committed.

With the support of environmentalist Perdikis from Cyprus, last Saturday's meeting of the relatives of the disappeared focussed on the whereabouts of disappeared Acar. Hanım Tosun once more asked for the fate of her husband Fehmi before the concert of U2 who mentioned Fehmi Tosun in their album "Pop" in 1997.

No Hope for Survivors, only for Finding Their Graves
In the 1990s thousands of people in Turkey have disappeared or were murdered. Many cases have still not been solved, and perpetrators have not been brought to justice. With the "Project on Unsolved Disappearances" human rights defenders claim to give the relatives at least a place to moarn.
