According to the “Juvenile Statistics Received into Security Unit” by the TurkStat, in 2019, 57.6 percent of 206 thousand 498 juvenile victims of crime were victims of assault while 15.2 percent of them were victims of sexual offenses.

In a single hearing, a 15-year-old child was sentenced to imprionment of more than six years. The conviction was based on police statements and a photo showing a child from behind. Lawyer Turgay Berk appealed to the decision.
