"There is no place for censorship by scientists, especially in the field of archaeology," says Göbeklitepe Excavation Director Prof. Dr. Necmi Karul, talking about the alleged censorship of statues found in Urfa Göbeklitepe and Karahantepe.

The dig team has unearthed many new findings such as grinding stones, hammerstones in famed ancient ruins in southeastern Türkiye.

Göbeklitepe, the oldest known temple in the world, was discovered in 1963 by researchers from the universities of İstanbul and Chicago.

Concrete has been poured on world’s oldest temple Göbeklitepe. Çiğdem Köksal Schmidt, the wife of Klaus Schmidt who was heading the excavation works, shared the photos on her Instagram account.
