Investigations have been launched into 50 of the 56 Editors-in-Chief on Watch who have participated in the campaign “Editors-in-Chief on Watch” of the now closed Özgür Gündem daily.

Journalist Murat Çelikkan who was sentenced to 18 months in prison for participating in the Editors-in-Chief on Watch campaign for the now-closed newspaper Özgür Gündem, has been released.

Standing trial due to their participation in the Özgür Gündem daily Editors-in-Chief on Watch campaign Ayşe Düzkan, Mehmet Ali Çelebi and Ragıp Duran as well as Özgür Gündem’s former co-Editor-in-Chief Hüseyin Aykol and writer Hüseyin Bektaş are facing 46 years in prison.
