The Court of Appeals overruled the decision regarding a compensation claim to be paid by NTV for publishing a phone talk between Dink murder case defendant Tuncel and police officer Zenit. The reversal of the previous decree stresses the right to inform and the freedom of the press.

The Beyoğlu Attorney General's Office did not see sufficient reasons for a lawsuit of police officer Zenit against bianet. Bianet had criticized Zenit because of the police officer's phone talks with murder suspect Tuncel prior to the murder of Hrant Dink. However, bianet is facing a 25,000 Turkish Lira compensation claim.

The Court of Appeals decided that journalist Fikri Sağlar did what was necessary within the scope of press freedom and thus rejected the demands of former Chief of General Staff Büyükanıt and his wife. They had claimed compensation on the grounds of a news item the journalist had written.

Nobel Prize laureate writer Orhan Pamuk will be on trial again to pay 36,000 TL in compensation for his statement "On this ground 30,000 Kurds and 1 million Armenians were killed". In France the author is awarded with the symbolic "Grand Medal" in the meantime.
