Federation of Women Associations of Turkey (TKDF) Chair Güllü has penned this year’s March 8 International Women’s Day Declaration of the Turkish Writers’ Union: “Women; to the streets on March 8 for our struggle for democracy and rights!”

Canan Güllü, a women's rights activist and the head of Federation of Women Associations of Turkey (TKDF), has been granted the award in an online ceremony attended by US Secretary of State Antony Blanken as well.

According to the figures shared by Turkish Statistical Institute, 11,803 children gave birth in Turkey in 2018. Taken together with the 18-year-olds, the total number in the last 18 years nears 2 million. The Institute has not yet shared last year’s figures.
