The Sledgehammer investigation was apparently "halted" after a meeting of Prime Minister Erdoğan and General Başbuğ, as reported by Taraf newspaper. The Hürriyet daily sees the reason in expected promotions of 11 generals and admirals part of the group of army officers subject to arrest warrants in the course of the investigation.

Former High-Ranking Military Officer Doğan Arrested

Former 1st Army Commander Çetin Doğan was arrested on the Bodrum airport upon an arrest warrant related to the "Sledgehammer" coup plan trial. Chief of General Staff Başbuğ convoked a meeting after the court decided to issue a total of 102 arrests warrants.
