A delegation from the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) paid a visit to the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) yesterday (November 4).
The meeting at the HDP Central Office in the capital city of Ankara was attended by TİP Chair Erkan Baş, TİP Spokesperson Sera Kadıgil, TİP Central Committee Member Doğan Ergün and HDP Co-Chair Mithat Sancar, Vice Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan and Van MP Muazzez Orhan.
'Alliance shouldn't be limited to elections'
TİP Chair Erkan Baş said that they, as the TİP, find the stance document and declaration issued by the HDP important, adding that this declaration assigns them with a responsibility, just like everyone else.
"I don't know if we will call it the third way, the third alliance or give it another name; but this issue has become a vital need," said Erkan Baş and added: "This responsibility rests on our shoulders."
Noting that the alliances to be formed should not be limited to electoral alliances, Baş recommended "forming a unity of struggle where the oppressed of Turkey come together" and added that the third alliance of Turkey should be open to expansion. TİP's Erkan Baş underlined that the framework of a possible electoral alliance should be clarified now.
'Alliances should be based on principles'
HDP Co-Chair Mithat Sancar also said that they, as the HDP, find the TİP's framework and attitude towards the HDP's declaration very valuable: "We agree on forming a method and model. We are in favor of the widest possible alliance of the aggrieved and oppressed."
Stressing that the alliance should be shaped based on principles, Sancar said that everyone and every group who is not content with the current state of affairs and governance should be a part of this alliance.
Commenting on the electoral process as well, Sancar said that "an electorate of 10 million people who may gather around the 3rd alliance will play a decisive role in building the democratic future of Turkey."
"We have important opportunities before us and I am of the opinion that the conditions are more suitable than ever before to carry out this work. We will make the strategy of alliance more and more concrete by considering the recommendations and evaluations from other parties and circles", said Sancar. (KÖ/SD)
