10 women prisoners and detainess, who have been on indefinite hunger strike without rotation for 61 days against rights violations in Elazığ Type T Prison, have been sent to different prison.
Speaking to Mezopotamya Agency, lawyer Bünyamin Şeker said that Helin Yapıcı, Saliha Cebe, Rozerin İldan, Dilşat Şengül, Vesile Paçal, Bahar Ulubay, Ayten Kordu, Dilan Barin, Medine Fidan and Zeynep Yıldırım were sent to different prisons in Ağrı, [Urfa] Hilvan, Erzurum, Osmaniye, Maraş and Ordu.
The Law Bureau of the Oppressed announced that İlke Başak Baydar, who survived injured from Suruç attack, was sent to Hilvan T2 Prison in Urfa.
What happened?
Six women prisoners went on hunger strike on November 10, 2017 for ill-treatment and rights violations in prison to end.
Diyarbakır Bar gave the following information concerning the rights violations in the wake of its meeting with the prisoners on hunger strike:
“Detainees and prisoners have been imposed the obligation by prison administration to carry ID on them in the areas other than wards. This practice is considered unlawful, unfair, derogatory and inhumane by the detainees and prisoners.
“Some detainees and prisoners have gone on hunger strike since this right violation is not fixed”. (AS/TK)
