Wildfires broke out today (July 13) in the Datça district of Muğla, an Aegean resort city in Turkey's southwest.
Blazes rapidly spread due to the strong winds as land and aerial response to the fires continue.

Muğla Mayor Osman Gürün said on Twitter that the fires initially broke out in the Kocadağ area in the Mesudiye Neighborhood. The roads between Datça, Mesudiye and Palamutbukü have been closed due to the fires. Power cuts are also reported in Datça.
"Our firefighting teams are on alert in order to prevent the fire from spreading to residential areas," Gürün tweeted.

The Muğla Governor's Office said in a written statement that land and aerial response teams have been dispatched to Datça to protect residential areas.
Veysel Tiryaki, the minister of agriculture and forestry, said seven planes, 14 helicopters, 75 water tenders and 400 personnel are working to contain the fires.
Muğla was one of the two hardest-hit provinces in last year's massive wildfires.
