"Moda Sahnesi", a private theater hall in İstanbul's Kadıköy, has announced that the Enerjisa, an electricity distribution and sales company, sent them a notification due to the unpaid electricity bill. The theater hall has reiterated that it will not pay the raised electricity bill.
Sharing a message on its social media account, Moda Sahnesi has said, "Enerjisa has sent us a message of celebration for March 27 World Theater Day. We will enter such a day with our electricity cut".
In mid-February 2022, Moda Sahnesi announced that while its previous electricity bill stood at 7 thousand lira, it increased to 20 thousand lira due to the recent price hikes. "We do not accept this exorbitant electricity price; for this reason, we don't pay the bill," said the theater hall.

On March 10, 2022, the electricity of the theater hall was cut, as it was announced by the hall's art director Kemal Aydoğan, who said, "The state and capital went too far in usurping civil rights".
Amid huge public backlash, the electricity of the hall was opened again on the same day. In a statement about the issue, the electricity distribution company AYEDAŞ said that "the electricity bill which led to the electricity cut on March 10 was paid and the electricity was opened".
Moda Sahnesi, on the other hand, posted a message on its social media account and said, "Enerjisa made a statement announcing that the electricity payment of the Moda Sahnesi has been made. We have heard about this payment from Enerjisa's statement. Enerjisa has to announce to the public by whom this payment was made". (AÖ/SD)
