According to a compilation made by bianet, male perpetrated violence left 189 women dead, 179 raped, 205 battered between November 2012 and November 2013.
Several women were killed for seeking divorce, authorities failed to protect dozens who filed for protection.

Divorce taboo kills
At least 25 women (13 percent) were slain for seeking divorce. It was also reported that 19 women (10 percent) were battered for the same reasons.
While another was killed for witnessing a divorce case, 3 women were sexually harassed by their husbands for same reasons.
Protection orders insufficient
The compilation also revealed that Law No 6284 on the preservation of family and prevention on domestic violence failed to protect women within protection orders.
14 percent of slain women applied for protection status, while 10 percent of women were battered despite protection orders.
Rapist at home!
It turned out that women were mostly raped by their acquaintances. Out 179 rape cases throughout November 2012 and 2013 revealed that 55 percent of women were raped by their acquaintances.
The most common venue for rape, on the other hand, was listed households and not streets. Other rape venues were listed as follows: household (38 percent), on the street (30 percent), abduction (24 percent), service location such as hospital, hair-dresser, hotel, etc (6 percent) and workplace (2 percent).
