Arrested in Ankara Sincan Type L Prison, vegan trans inmate İda Koçak has gone on a hunger strike as she is insistently given non-vegan food.
Koçak has been on a hunger strike for eight days. Her family heard about her hunger strike when they went to visit her in prison. She is on a hunger strike as she is not given vegan food despite her requests.
Campaign on social media
As reported by Pembe Hayat Association, trans activist Diren Coşkun has announced the hunger strike on her social media accounts.
Starting to work about the issue, the Association has got in contact with the psychosocial service of the prison and requested information.
After the issue was announced on social media accounts, people have denounced it under the hashtag #İdayaSesVer (Keep the volume up for İda) and called on the authorities to end this unlawfulness as soon as possible. (EMK/SD)
