Türkiye's most popular humor magazine released its last issue today (January 25).
In a farewell message, Uykusuz said, "The weekly Uykusuz magazine is ending its publishing life, which began in September 2007. We are working to publish the magazine in a different environment or continue as a monthly magazine, but the result is uncertain for now. No matter how little or how much, a big thank you to everyone who contributed.
"Since it's teamwork, when one of us was exhausted, others gave support, and thanks to this, our magazine could survive for 15 years. Frankly, we hadn't guessed it would be such a longstanding magazine. We hope Uykusuz will not be the last humor magazine."
Founded by six cartoonists who had left the Penguen magazine, Uykusuz, which means "sleepless," released its first issue on September 5, 2007.
"We thought about it a lot, and then looking at ourselves, we said, 'What could it be anything other than Uykusuz?'" Yiğit Özgür, who drew the magazine's logo with a man with striped pajamas, had said at the time.
For most of the time during the period when it was published, Uykusuz had the highest circulation among humor magazines.
