United States (US) Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Spokesperson for the Pentagon Eric Pahon have said in their statement that they will not build “Border Security Force”.
In his statement he made to reporters on his return from Canada to the US, Tillerson said that they owe an explanation to Turkey about this matter and they “understand Turkey reacted the way it did”.
Expressing that they take Turkey’s concerns about Syria seriously, Tillerson stated that the agreement to be reached for Syria’s political transition process shouldn’t threaten the neighbors.
“Tillerson told reporters “that entire situation has been mis-portrayed, mis-described, some people misspoke. We are not creating a border security force at all”.
Stating that all local elements should be represented in the political transition in Syria, Tillerson praised Turkey’s efforts in fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
In its statement, the Pentagon declared that an “army” or a convential “border forced” under the Syrian Democratic Forces won’t be built. (EKN/TK)
