The indictment prepared within the scope of the investigation launched into imc TV News Director, Hamza Aktan was approved by the court on Friday (June 24).
Up to 5 years in prison has been demanded for Alkan who is facing the charge of “terrorist organization propaganda”.
Aktan interviewing to bianet has said he is being charged over 16 tweets in total, seven of these are his tweets or retweets whereas the other nine don’t belong to him.
The nine tweets taking place in the three-page indictment prepared by Public Prosecutor Ahmet Demirhüyük and allegedly posted by Aktan attract attention with excessive grammatical mistakes in them.
According to the report taking place on imc TV’s website, Aktan stating he never used Twitter at the time of the tweets in question were posted said, “I didn’t write a single message on Twitter during the 5-month period between October 3, 2015 and February 26, 2016 but it is claimed in the indictment that I shared 8 tweets in January 2016. This is unbelievable”.
Tweet’s mistranslation to Turkish
Another interesting point in the indictment is mistranslation again of an Aktan’s tweet into Turkish.
Aktan’s tweet dated September 10, 2015 “Locals and Kurdish politicians are calling on EU & UN to act as the situation has already reached to a very dangerous level” was translated into Turkish as “AB ve BM’ye çağrıda bulunuyoruz. Yerli halk ve Kürt siyasetçiler açısından durum çok kötü seviyeye ulaşmıştır (We are calling EU and UN. The situation has reached a very dangerous level for locals and Kurdish politicians)”.
Aktan saying the same mistake was made in the police questioning on April 30 and he had made them correct it and that he couldn’t understand how the same mistake was repeated in the indictment.
First hearing is on October 27
From 1 to 5 years in prison has been demanded for Aktan on charge of terror organization propaganda in the indictment approved by Bakırköy 2nd Heavy Penal Court.
First hearing of the Aktan released on judicial control on April 30 will be held on October 27.
Police have been keeping Aktan’s phones and computers for over two months
Aktan in his statement to bianet said that his cell phone and two computers were seized on April 30 and police haven’t been returning them for over two months.
Aktan added that he doesn’t know when he will be given back his phone and computers. (EKN/TK)
