Union Secretary General Detained over ‘Insulting President’
DİSK Secretary General Çerkezoğlu has been taken into custody on charge of insulting the President.

Confederation of Progressive Unions of Turkey (DİSK) Secretary General, Arzu Çerkezoğlu has been detained on charge of “insulting the President”.
The arrest warrant DİSK shared on its Twitter account states that the arrest warrant was issued by Diyarbakır 1st Criminal Judicatory of Peace. “Date of crime” is stated as August 31, 2015.
Çerkezoğlu on that date posted a tweet expressing they as health organizations were in Diyarbakır.
The tweet reads “We as health organizations were in Diyarbakır on August 31, 2015. Yes I spoke about the [Presidential] Palace and I will continue to do so!” (BK/TK)
