The Publishers Union of Turkey (TYB) has criticized the ruling of access block on the book titled “Mahrem/Gizli Belgelerde Türkiye’nin Sırları” published by Kırmızı Kedi Publishing House, and declared that it supports the campaign called “Don’t Touch Mahrem” launched by the publishing house.
İstanbul 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace had ordered the access to many social media account, which include sales and promotion links, to be blocked and content to be removed from the publication.
According to TYB’s statement, the verdict was rendered on the ground of “violation of personal rights” upon the petition submitted by the lawyer of Justice and Development Party (AKP) MP Celalettin Güvenç
Stating that there is no ban verdict rendered on the book, the TYB in it statement said, “The ruling of blocking its promotion and sales prevents the readers from accessing to the book”.
About the book
Penned by Barış Türkoğlu and Barış Pehlivan, the book tells the story of a mass sexual assault launched on a child in 20017 and the attempts to cover this act.
The book was first published in April 2015. (YY/TK)
