The Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV) released the 83rd issue of its Employment Monitoring Bulletin in which it evaluates June figures of the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) and Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
Here are some highlights from the bulletin:
- The number of the registered unemployed increased by 68.5 percent to 4 million 418 thousand. It increased by 1 million 796 thousand compared to the same period last year.
- The number of registered unemployed women increased by 66.1 percent and unemployed men increased by 71.1 percent compared to the same period last year.
- Among the 15-64 age group, the number of registered unemployed women increased by 66.1 percent and unemployed men increased by 71.3 percent.
- Among the 15-24 age group, the number of registered unemployed women increased by 86 percent and unemployed men increased by 75.5 percent.
- Sharpest increase in unemployment were among primary school graduates with 631 thousand. They were followed by secondary school graduates with 470 thousand, associate degree holders with 172 thousand, illiterate people with 119 thousand, and 44 thousand with people who are literate but do not have any education degree.
- The number of the unemployed increased by 8 thousand among master's degree holders and 235 among doctoral degree holders.
- Among the bachelor degree holders, unemployment increased by 112.1 percent. (HA/VK)
