Police detained 12 people today (December 17) in an investigation into the Peoples' Democratic Party's (HDP) congress in İstanbul on December 12.
The party's executives are among the detained, according to the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA).
A former party executive has been detained in Kars province and will be brought to İstanbul, the agency reported.
The İstanbul Chief Public Proseutor's Office opened an investigation into the congress after a criminal complaint by the İstanbul Security Directorate.
Releasing a statement about the complaint, the directorate had said, "As it was detected that slogans praising the head of the terrorist organization were chanted and organizational anthems were sung by the attendants at the congress hall, a criminal complaint had been filed to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office."
