Roman Havası, a TV series that stirred criticism for its discriminative and stereotype-provoking language, has been canceled by Turkey’s Show TV.
After airing five episodes, the show has been rescheduled for low ratings. It turned out that the show has been canceled even though Show TV didn’t make a statement.
Since the release of its first episode, the show caused protest, saying that the series reproduced the prejudices against Roma people.
Kuştepeli Romanlar Group assembled outside Show TV headquarters in Istanbul, leaving flowers to protest.
Roma People’s Rights Forum (ROMFO) filed a complaint against the show after which the company hired some new scriptwriters.

Roman Havası was produced by Erler Film Co - the same company that made other Roma people related shows Cennet Mahallesi and Görgüsüzler the project was designed by Türker İnanoğlu, directed by Hakan Arslan and co-scripted by Fethi Kantarcı, Barkın Şenüren and Saygın Delibaş and starred by famous actors Oya Başar, Levent Ülgen, Günay Karacaoğlu and Petek Dinçöz.
