Türkiye summoned Denmark's Ambassador to Ankara Danny Annan over the permission of burning the Quran in Copenhagen, the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) reported, citing diplomatic sources.
"The Danish Ambassador in Ankara has just been summoned to our Ministry after it was learned that an attack against our holy book, the Quran, was allowed in Denmark today" the sources were quoted as saying.
"It was conveyed to the ambassador that we strongly condemn the permission of this provocative act, which clearly constitutes a hate crime, and that this attitude of Denmark is unacceptable," they added.
Friday's attack came a week after Rasmus Paludan, an extreme-right politician from Denmark, on January 21 burned a copy of tthe Quran, outside Türkiye's embassy in Stockholm.
On January 22, Edwin Wagensveld, a far-right politician in the Netherlands and the leader of the Pegida, tore out pages from a copy of the Quran in The Hague.
Following these developments, Türkiye suspended NATO membership talks with Sweden and Finland. (SD/VK)
